Possible First Year

You may know you have an interest in Spanish but you are unsure about what courses might complement this interest or lead on to a second major, or minor. The following list provides possible choices for interests in English, History, Linguistics or Media Studies to help with planning your first year of study. A usual full-time workload for first year is eight courses; four courses in Semester One, and four courses in Semester Two.

Requirements

You will study the Spanish language from beginner level (for those of you with no previous knowledge of the language) to advanced level where you will learn to read and speak Spanish with confidence. Courses are offered at all levels in Spanish language, literature, culture, music and civilisation. Their focus is divided between Spain itself and the nations of Latin America.

Spanish Major

A major consists of 135 credits (nine courses) in Spanish.

Minor Requirements

A minor consists of 75 credits in Spanish, including 15 credits at 300-level; 30 credits at 200-and/or 300-level, and 30 credits at any level from the Spanish schedule.
