Admission to this programme is open to students who have a completed BA degree with a major in Māori Studies/Māori Knowledge and at least a B grade average in the 200/300 major courses.
Students who have completed the following postgraduate qualifications may be eligible for direct entry to part two of the Master of Arts:

Courses to the value of 180 credits consisting of 120 credits of taught courses and a Research Report (Coursework pathway) or a combination of taught courses and a 90-120 credit Thesis (Research pathway) as outlined below.
At least a B grade average is required in the first 60 credits of courses completed in Part One for progression to Part Two - Coursework Pathway.
At least a B+ grade average is required in the first 60 credits of courses completed in Part One for progression to Part Two - Research Pathway.
Students who successfully complete Part One but do not meet the minimum grade average for progression will exit with a Postgraduate Diploma in Arts.
This qualification may be awarded with Distinction or Merit.
All requirements for this programme must be completed within five years.
For eligibility for Distinction or Merit, all requirements must be completed within 18 months for full-time study or within four years for part-time study.
Note: not all courses are available in each semester.
All courses are 30 credits each unless otherwise indicated.

Note: Once a thesis has been commenced, students are required to be continuously enrolled until submission. If a student is unable to submit with their initial Part One/Part Two enrolment, they are required to re-enrol in Part Two (and pay fees) each semester until submission, up to the maximum time permitted for their qualification.
