For the Bachelor of Commercial Music degree you need to have a recognised university entrance qualification. Ways to get a recognised university entrance qualification include: NCEA, Cambridge International Examinations, International Baccalaureate, Admission with Equivalent Status, Discretionary Entrance or Special Admission.
If you are interested in the Music Industry or technology major we strongly recommend you have consultation with School staff to discuss what you want to gain out of the programme.
For the Music Practice major (and minor), you must register for an audition.
Please ensure you make an application for the Bachelor of Commercial Music before you register for an audition or optional consultation.

Students have specialist classes in their chosen major, but also study a range of shared courses and collaborate each semester on external projects, eg staging a live show, staging and promoting a tour, and developing media campaigns.

All students, regardless of their major, must take shared core courses. The First Year compulsory shared courses are:

The Bachelor of Commercial Music programme has space for up to 75 credits worth of courses of your choice, known as electives.
In the first year, you must select one elective from another Commercial Music major and the second one can be selected from:
We can't tell you the exact cost until you have chosen your courses, as the tuition fees you pay each year vary depending on the courses you choose. There will also be compulsory non-tuition fees you have to pay in addition to your tuition fees. For some courses there may be other charges for things such as study resources, software, trips and contact workshops.
