Massey University Library provides a specialist service to students studying from offshore. This includes a combination of online resources, electronic delivery and, in some circumstances, postal delivery of physical items. We are also here to help you with finding the information you need for your study.
As an enrolled Massey University student you have access to a wide range of online resources including journal articles, ebooks and article databases through the Library. If you need help with logging in, go to our Login Help page.
Many databases provide full text content, while others will provide an abstract and citation. If the article you want is not available online, but we have it in print, we will scan it and send you a copy. Make requests using the Journal Article Request Form.
For more information on finding journal articles and ebooks use our How do I find pages.
In most cases electronic delivery of scanned contents pages and a chapter are offered as first preference, but books may be sent to students when both necessary and practically possible. You need to be aware that you are responsible for the cost of airmail postage to return the item to us. If you do not want us to send any books to you, please let us know.
We will send you books from our collection when:
It is also advisable to check if an ebook is available: How Do I Find Ebooks?
Rather than requesting a whole book, we can send you the contents pages for you to select from. We will copy what is allowed under New Zealand copyright law ("a reasonable proportion" and this is usually one chapter of any book) and send you the material electronically.
You are welcome to make use of any of our libraries if you are in New Zealand at any stage. We ask that you return any Library materials you may have borrowed before leaving New Zealand.
The BONUS+ agreement does not permit BONUS+ books to be sent to offshore students.
While we cannot negotiate access to other libraries for you, we are happy to provide a letter of introduction that may be of use.
Students in Australia are able to borrow from a range of University Libraries through the ULANZ scheme - more information.
We won't normally be able to request books from other libraries for you, but we are happy to process requests for individual journal articles. Details here.
Please contact us if you would like more information on accessing and searching these online resources.
