Recording an online meeting

Always ask for consent before sharing recordings.

Presenters using the Lync 2010 client for Windows can record meetings and save the files to their computers. You can choose whether to save your recorded file as a Lync recording only, or as a shareable Windows Media Recording (.wmv) as well. You can also publish any saved Lync recording as shareable .wmv file later on.

Recording the meeting is a manual task, you can't set a client to record a meeting automatically.

Recording the meeting

  1. Announce that you will be recording the meeting.
  2. Open the Actions tab, then select Start Recording.
  3. Click this button again to stop recording.

Record an online meeting

When you stop recording, a pop up box will ask you to save your recording. You can choose to save a shareable wmv file at the same time as the Lync recording.
