The Australasian Survey of Student Engagement (AUSSE) provides information for stimulating evidence-based conversations about the quality of student engagement in university education. Student engagement is defined as “students involvement with activities and conditions likely to generate high-quality learning”. The survey is administered to first and third year undergraduate students over a range of dimensions and outcome measures:
The AUSSE is managed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) on behalf of participating universities in Australia and New Zealand. Massey University participated in a pilot survey in 2007. In 2008 the survey was administered only to students in the University’s College of Business and in 2009 the students in the College of Sciences. From 2010 onward AUSSE has been administered to students in all Colleges.
