Miro Hall

Miro Hall is ideal for first year students providing comfortable modern living. The hall offers spacious, fully furnished single occupancy rooms in the heart of the Manawatū campus. It's just a short stroll away from the Colombo Road bus stop and Student Central.

  • Spacious, single occupancy rooms, with shared bathrooms (bathroom to resident ratio 1:4, for 50 residents.
  • Suitable for students aged 17 to 23 years.
  • Fully furnished. Residents can bring their own towels and bedding or purchase a bed-pack.
  • Common room with a TV.
  • Less than a two minute walk to the Colombo Road bus stop.

Room rates

All students can pay by semester or full year. Only domestic students can pay on a weekly basis by direct debit.

Support

  • Residential staff are on-site to provide pastoral care.
  • Residential Assistants support the Halls Management Team to create a fun, safe place to live and achieve academic success.
  • Activities and events are held throughout the year. A beach volley ball court is available to residents.
  • Chaplaincy and religious services are available at The Centre.
  • Accommodation is available for residents with accessibility requirements.

Facilities

Catering

Fully or partially catered. Meals are served at the Dining Hall on Concourse. Residents can eat there or take meals away. Student ID cards will need to be presented to receive meals.

Internet

Wireless internet is available throughout the hall.

Heating

Social spaces are heated and each bedroom has a heater.

Furniture

Basic furniture is provided. Items that are not provided by the hall will need to be supplied by the residents. Each room comes with a king single bed.

Laundry

A laundry is located in both the Kanuka and Karaka communal spaces. Each laundry has 24-hour access. Washing machines and dryers are available.

Parking

Secure car parking is available on campus for $120 per semester. A $20 bond is required for the access card, which is refunded when the card is returned.

Free bike racks are located around the exterior of the hall. Limited spaces are available for rent in a secure bike shed. The cost is $25.00 ($20 bond and $5 maintenance fee).

Bus service

Students can travel for free on the local Palmerston North bus service. Students must present their Massey student ID.

Kanuka and Karaka communal spaces

Kanuka is located between Rehab Road and Totara Hall and Karaka is just off Rehab Road, next to Miro and Tawa halls. These are communal spaces for all residents of the Turitea community. Facilities available in each space include:

  • Communal laundry
  • Four computers
  • One printer
