Tararua Hall

Tararua Hall is one of six halls on Monro Hill. The location provides great views of Palmerston North. Named after the mountain range, south east of Palmerston North. Tararua is a more modern hall, made up of four six-bedroom units.

  • Self-contained six-bedroom units, for 24 residents.
  • Suitable for mature and returning students aged 19 years and over.
  • Fully furnished. Residents can bring their own towels and bedding or purchase a bed-pack.
  • A 10 minute walk to the Concourse and Student Central.

All students can pay by semester or full year. Only domestic students can pay on a weekly basis by direct debit.

Self-catered. Residents cook their own meals in their accommodation.


Wireless internet is available throughout the hall.


Each bedroom has a heater.


Basic furniture is provided. Items that are not provided by the hall will need to be supplied by the residents. Each room comes with a single bed.


24-hour access to the laundry. Washing machines and dryers are available


Secure car parking is available on campus for $120 per semester. A $20 bond is required for the access card, which is refunded when the card is returned.

Free bike racks are located around the exterior of the hall. Limited spaces are available for rent in a secure bike shed. The cost is $25.00 ($20 bond and $5 maintenance fee).

Bus service

Students can travel for free on the local Palmerston North bus service. Students must present their Massey student ID.

Ruahine computer lab

The Ruahine computer lab is located on the ground floor of Ruahine Flats. This communal space is for all residents of the Moginie community. Facilities available include:

  • Fourteen computers
  • One printer
