Massey Guides are volunteers who help new students with their transition to university during orientation week and beyond. They offer peer support by giving timely advice, acting as a role model, and by providing new students with information and guidance.

As a Massey Guide you will:

  • connect with new students who may be studying the same courses as yourself
  • explain how the university runs through sharing your own student life experiences
  • explain the services on offer, which help new students in their first year
  • take students on a tour of the campus and give directions
  • assist Student Services staff to run a range of on-campus events

If this sounds like you then apply by clicking Apply Now button and we will be in touch with more information about dates and training.

Why be a Massey Guide?

Possibly the biggest attraction is working alongside and making friends with an awesome group of students from all over the campus. Being a Massey Guide really is a great experience; you’ll get to make a difference by guiding new students through their transition to uni and it’s loads of fun!

Aside from that, there are other perks, which will benefit you far into your professional future:

  • developing your leadership and presentation skills
  • gaining work experience and network opportunities, which will look great on your CV
  • getting to know the campus and university community better
  • receiving a written reference from the university (on request)

Please note: We welcome applications from students who will be in their second or subsequent year who are available during Orientation week 2020.
