Purpose
The T & G Undergraduate Scholarship assists students of high academic calibre to undertake a degree that will provide them with the education and training to support the sustainable development of the New Zealand horticultural industry.

Background
This scholarship is funded by T & G Global (formerly Turners and Growers Ltd), a leading provider of horticultural produce.

Value and tenure
The value of each scholarship is $5000.

The scholarship is offered annually and the tenure is for a single academic year.

Recipients need to re-apply for the scholarship each year.

The number of scholarships offered each year is subject to the funding available.

Eligibility
Applicants must be enrolled at the Manawatū campus of Massey University for a full-time, three-year course of study in horticulture.

Selection criteria
The selection criteria are academic merit and evidence of current and/or planned activity to support the development of the New Zealand horticultural industry.

Selection panel
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of a selection panel consisting of at least one representative from each of T & G Global, the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee and the horticulture/horticultural science teaching staff at Massey University.

The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.

Conditions of the scholarship
The scholarship may be terminated at any time if conduct or progress of the recipient has been unsatisfactory, or if the recipient's programme of study becomes no longer relevant to the horticulture industry.

Recipients must agree to maintain liaison with an appointed mentor from within T & G for the duration of their study.

Recipients must agree T & G is able to publicise their name, photograph and biographical details in company-related publications.

Massey University will recognise T & G in any publicity or publications that result from activities associated with this scholarship.

The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
