The Grant in Aid & Elizabeth A Cooper Award is offered to students currently registered with disability services who have a successful academic record at Massey University.

Tenure and value
The Grant in Aid has a value of up to $1,400 per annum and shall be allocated between application(s) of sufficient merit as funds permit.

Applicants must be current students registered with Massey University Disability Services and have a successful academic record.

In the year of the award applicants will be enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate programme either internal, distance, or mixed mode at any campus of Massey University.

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

The Grant in Aid is not intended to cover predictable, ongoing costs that all students will encounter through their period of study, for example fees, course supplies.

The Grant in Aid is not intended for ongoing costs such as medications or personal cares.

It is expected that a student will have investigated all avenues of appropriate financial support, and been unsuccessful, before an application for the Grant in Aid is made.

Preference will be given to students who face additional support costs related to studies due to their disability and have not accessed the Grant in Aid previously.

When funding allows, financial hardship applications may be considered. Such applications will only be granted once.

Responsibility for the Grant in Aid
Grants will be awarded on the recommendation of the Grant in Aid Selection Committee.

Conditions of the Grant in Aid
In recommending the award of a Grant the Selection Committee will take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicant with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of monies among qualifying candidates.

If there are not candidates of sufficient merit the Selection Committee may refrain from making an award.

Successful applicants must provide copies of receipts for all purchases bought or part-bought with their Grant in Aid, within 8 weeks of receiving the award.

The Grant in Aid will be paid in one instalment.

Closing date
There is no closing date for applications for the Grant in Aid.

It is not the responsibility of the Selection Committee to source missing information. Failure to provide information requested on the application form will lead to delays in the consideration of the application.

Please pay particular attention to the Supporting Statement section of the application form. It is worth spending some time on this section as it provides you with the opportunity to outline your circumstances, the reason you are applying for the Grant, and the purpose to which financial assistance will be put.

When an application for the Grant in Aid relates to costs that have already been incurred by a student, copies of the invoices relating to these costs should be attached to the application.
