Level of study
The Johannes August Anderson doctoral scholarship financially supports agriculture and horticulture doctoral students.
This scholarship was established under the terms of the will of Johannes August Anderson, a retired farmer.
Value and Tenure
The annual value of the scholarship is up to $3,000.
The scholarship is usually offered annually. The tenure is for a single academic year though recipients can apply again in subsequent years.
At the discretion of the University all, or part, of the annual interest may be reinvested to maintain the value of the capital fund so the scholarship may not be granted each and every year.

Applicants must be enrolled full time for a PhD degree in one of the Applied Academic Programme disciplines relevant to agriculture or horticulture (paper prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 238 or 239) at Massey University.
The selection criterion is academic merit.
The University Scholarships Committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicants in seeking an equitable distribution of funds.
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee, College of Sciences.
The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
Conditions of the Scholarship
The Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee may withdraw or suspend an award at any time if the recipient fails to make satisfactory academic progress.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
Application cannot be accepted before 30/09/2020.
