Level of Study
The Millar Massey Buchanan Scholarship supports postgraduate agriculture and horticulture students.
This scholarship is supported by the combined funds derived from the William Millar Bequest, the Sir Walter Buchanan Endowment and the William Massey Memorial Trust. These funds were amalgamated in 2000 to support postgraduate research in agriculture.
Value and Tenure
The value of the scholarship is determined each year from the interest earned on the capital. The scholarship is offered annually and the tenure is for a single academic year.

Applicants must be:
•enrolled full time for a postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma in Applied Academic Programme disciplines relevant to agriculture or horticulture (course prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 238, 239, 283, 284 and 285) at Massey University
•New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
The selection criterion is academic merit.
Recipients are expected to make a significant contribution through scientific endeavour to the primary industries in New Zealand.
The University Scholarships Committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicants in seeking an equitable distribution of funds.
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee, College of Sciences.
The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
Conditions of the Scholarship
The Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee may withdraw or suspend the scholarship at any time.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
Application cannot be accepted before 30/09/2020.
