This research grant has been made available by Turners and Growers Limited to encourage research by students and staff that may improve the quality of fruit, vegetables and flowers being produced for both the local and export markets. Projects involving studies on plant health, clonal selection, plant breeding and improvement of quality of horticultural crops would be most appropriate.
Value and tenure
The annual value of the grant(s) is up to $3000. The grant is normally made annually.

One grant is typically offered each year.
Grants are available to staff and full-time postgraduate students enrolled in programmes in one of the Applied Science papers (prefix of 111, 112, 117, 119, 138, 171, 188, 189, 283, 284 or 285) at Massey University.
Recommendations for a grant are based on academic merit and potential to meet the research objectives.
The grant is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee.
The University Scholarships Committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and its decision is final.
Conditions of the grant
The grant may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
