Level of study
This bursary was established in 1964 from the Estate of Miss Janet McLennan for students who have completed the first year and are continuing to study in their first undergraduate degree at Massey University. The purpose is to provide assistance to students in financial need.
Value and tenure
The Bursary shall be awarded annually.
The value of the J McLennan Bursary will be determined each year from the interest earned on the capital fund.
Typical number on offer
have successfully completed a minimum of 105 tertiary credits. In the year of the award applicants will be enrolled full-time ( a minimum of 105 credits) in a first undergraduate degree either internal, extramural, or mixed mode at any campus of Massey University
be New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.
Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial hardship, and who also have a record of academic success in their studies to date. Evidence of good character may also be taken into account.
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee.
Conditions of the scholarship
The Bursary will be paid in two instalments in April and August.
In recommending the award of a Bursary the University Scholarships Committee will take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicant with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of monies among qualifying candidates.
If there are not candidates of sufficient merit the Scholarships Committee may refrain from making an award.
Recipients may hold the Bursary more than once but must reapply on each occasion.
