Level of study
The Muriel Caddie Scholarship in Veterinary Science supports students of exceptional merit who have completed the Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University and who wish to undertake postgraduate study or training in some aspects of veterinary science.
Value and tenure
The annual value of each scholarship is up to $4000 but greater or lesser amounts may be awarded depending upon the course taken and the funds available.
Payments are made twice a year
The scholarship may be awarded for one to three years depending on the study programme being undertaken. In exceptional circumstances the scholarship may be awarded for a lesser period of time.
If there are no applicants, or applicants are deemed unsuitable, the income shall be accumulated and according to the judgement of the University either more scholarships or a scholarship of greater value shall be offered later.
Typical number on offer
One scholarship is typically offered each year as funds permit.
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University and wish to undertake postgraduate study or training in some aspects of veterinary science.
-a written reference on the applicant’s academic abilities and research potential from an academic member of staff in the School of Veterinary Science.
-a supporting statement briefly outlining the research programme the applicant proposes to undertake during the tenure of the scholarship, the purpose for which the scholarship is required and how it would be used if granted (personal support, travel costs, resource requirements, etc.)
The selection committee comprises the Dean of Postgraduate Studies and a panel of senior School of Veterinary Science staff.
Conditions of the scholarship
Where a scholarship is awarded for more than one year its continuance for each additional year will depend on suitable reports of the recipient's progress being received from the supervisor of the recipient's study programme.
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure
10 January In special circumstances and when finance permits, consideration may be given to applications received other than by the normal closing date.
