Agriculture and Horticulture, students from the Wairarapa
Level of Study
The Sydney Campbell Undergraduate Scholarship supports agriculture and horticulture students from Wairarapa.
This scholarship is provided under the will of Sydney Campbell, who owned Wairarapa sheep and beef farm Riverside Farm. Mr Campbell died in 1977.
Value and Tenure
The annual value of the scholarship is typically up to $1000. The scholarship is tenable for a single academic year, but recipients may reapply in subsequent years.
Typical Number on Offer
Eight scholarships are typically offered each year.
•be undertaking an appropriate undergraduate degree at Massey University
•be domiciled in Wairarapa south of Woodville, and between the coast and the Tararua/Remutaka Ranges
•have attended secondary school in this district.
Preference is given to applicants who are taking courses in agriculture or horticulture and show an inclination to return and live in Wairarapa upon completing their course.
The selection criterion is academic merit. In recommending the award of the scholarship the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee will take account of other scholarships held.
The scholarship is awarded by the Trustees with assistance from the Applied Academic Programmes Scholarships Committee.
The Trustees have the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants and their decision is final.
Conditions of the Scholarship
The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as those scholarships, bursaries or awards permit co-tenure.
Application cannot be accepted before 30/09/2020.
