Purpose
The Sir James Scholarship for Food Technology supports Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours students.

Background
This scholarship is funded by Heinz Wattie’s, the founder of the food processing company Wattie’s.

Value and tenure
The value of the scholarship is $10,000 to be paid in four annual instalments of $2,500.

One scholarship is offered each year

Eligibility
Applicants must be:
•a New Zealand citizen
•enrolled fulltime in the first year of the Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours.

Selection criteria
Academic merit and demonstration from the applicant of their passion for food technology.

Selection panel
The selection panel consists of:
•the Bachelor of Food Technology with Honours Major Leader
•staff from the School of Food and Advanced Technology.

The panel’s choice will be approved by the Product Development Manager, Heinz Wattie’s.

The selection committee has the right to refrain from making an award if there are no suitable applicants.

Conditions of the scholarship
After the first year, payment will depend on successful completion of the previous year’s study.
