Summer Scholarships across the subject areas of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science/Information Technology, Genetics, Mathematics, Microbiology, Physics, Plant Sciences, and Statistics.
Level of study
Undergraduate or Postgraduate
The School of Fundamental Sciences summer scholarships support students who wish to undertake supervised research over the summer period.
Value and tenure
The value of each scholarship is $6,000.
The tenure of each scholarship will be for a minimum of ten weeks, the commencement date to be negotiated between the successful applicant and his/her supervisor and will terminate before the start of Semester One of the following year.
Typical number on offer
Nine scholarships, one for each subject area.
Applicants must be:
•Enrolled full time in a Massey University degree and based on the Manawatu campus
•Be undertaking a major in one of the subject areas listed above
•Be either undergraduate (with anticipated completion of at least 200-level in their majoring subject(s) by the end of the year of application) or have recently completed the requirements for an appropriate Bachelor or Postgraduate degree.
Selection will be based on:
•Interest in research
•A research topic that meets the Schools strategy.
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarship Committee on the recommendation of the Head of School for the School of Fundamental Sciences.
Conditions of the scholarship
Each successful applicant is required to submit a report of their research to their supervisor at the conclusion of their scholarship.
Applicants for the School of Fundamental Sciences Summer Scholarships will also be considered for the John Ayers Summer Scholarship.
