This scholarship has been established in memory of the late Allan and Grace Kay, under the terms of the Will of the late Grace Edith Meliora Kay, to enable students to pursue a postgraduate research course overseas in Agricultural or Veterinary Science.
1.The scholarship shall have an annual value of $10,000 and shall be open to New Zealand born residents who may be graduates from a university in New Zealand or overseas.
2.The tenure of the scholarship shall be for a maximum period of three years. Continuing tenure of the scholarship will be contingent upon satisfactory academic progress. The holder shall submit half yearly reports to the Scholarships Office.
3.The scholarship shall be awarded as funds permit by the Trustees of the late Grace Edith Meliora Kay on the recommendation of the Scholarships Committee. Recommendations shall be based on academic attainment and the financial circumstances of the applicant.
4.The scholarship may be held concurrently with other scholarships and bursaries but such emoluments shall be taken into account when assessing need.
5.The scholarship monies shall be paid in two equal instalments in April and September.
6.The scholarship is subject to the holder entering into a bond with the Trustees to return to New Zealand, if called upon by the Trustees within five years of the termination of such scholarship, to teach and/or practise for at least the equivalent number of years the scholarship was held.
