Conditions of the scholarship
Preference may be given to honours students, and to projects that involve some aspect of seed biology or seed technology.

The scholarship may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, bursaries or awards, so long as these permit co-tenure.

In recommending the award of a scholarship the selection committee may take account of other scholarships and bursaries held by the applicant with a view to achieving a reasonable distribution of available monies among qualifying candidates.

The Committee may decline to award any scholarships in any year if there are no applicants of sufficient merit to warrant an award.

At the discretion of the University all, or part, of the annual interest may be reinvested in order to maintain the value of the capital fund or the value of the award for subsequent years.

The Applied Sciences Scholarships Committee may withdraw or suspend an award at any time if the recipient fails to make satisfactory progress.

Recipients may apply for the scholarship again in the following year for those programmes longer than 1 year in duration.

The first payment will be in May of the year that the application is made, but payments may involve several instalments depending on the size of the award, with later instalments conditional on good progress being made with the programme of study.
