This scholarship is funded by royalties generated from Associate Professor Ayers’ resin research
The John Ayers Summer Scholarship supports students who wish to undertake research work over the summer period under the supervision of a School of Fundamental Sciences staff member.
Value and tenure
The value of a scholarship is $7,000
The tenure of each scholarship will be for a minimum of ten weeks, the commencement date to be negotiated between the successful applicant and his/her supervisor and will terminate before the start of Semester One of the following year.
Typical number on offer
Applicants must be:
•Enrolled full time in a Massey University degree and based on the Manawatu campus
•Either undergraduate (with anticipated completion of at least 200-level in their majoring subject(s) by the end of the application year) or have recently completed the requirements for an appropriate bachelor or postgraduate degree
The selection will be based on:
•Research topic and alignment with the School strategy
The scholarship is awarded by the University Scholarships Committee on the recommendation of the Head of School, Fundamental Sciences.
Conditions of the scholarship
The successful applicant is required to submit a report of their research to their supervisor at the conclusion of the scholarship.
Applicants for the John Ayers Summer Scholarship will also be considered for the School of Fundamental Sciences Summer Scholarships.
