Karen Ashton is a Senior Lecturer in applied linguistics and language education. Karen has a PhD in language assessment (University of Cambridge) and a MA in Forensic Linguistics (Cardiff University). She has worked on several large-scale and high profile language education assessment projects (European Survey on Language Competences and Asset Languages) in the UK, and is also an experienced and passionate teacher educator. She draws on her language education background, and on her skills in linguistics and discourse analysis, to research aspects related to diversity and equity in language education, policy and assessment.
