I completed my PhD looking at dystocia in beef heifers at Massey University in 2009. I have a BSc (Hons) in Animal Science and Mathematics and a BBS in Finance, also from Massey University. I grew up on a sheep and beef farm near Gisborne and have maintained a strong interest in beef production, particularly breeding cows. Current research interests include beef cow efficiency, making the best use of dairy beef opportunities, and Theileria orientalis (ikeda) impacts in beef herds.
I am interested in all aspects of beef production, from calving and calf rearing through to finishing and meat quality. I also contribute to projects in dairy production and genetics, sheep production and equine breeding.
