Dr Foskett joined Massey University in 2004, prior to this he was at the world-leading Loughborough University (#1 for Sport-related courses, QS Rankings). Dr Foskett is the founding Head of the School of Sport, Exercise and Nutrition. The School, formed in 2017, under Dr Foskett’s guidance, aligns with the College of Health strategic intent to improve health and wellbeing through teaching and research with the University recently recognised for its research excellence in the areas of Sport and Exercise Science and Other Health Studies (NZ PBRF Rankings 2018) supporting the expertise of the School staff.
Dr Foskett has a keen interest in high performance sport from physiological, nutritional and strength and conditioning perspectives and his teaching and research encompass these interests.
A keen practitioner, Dr Foskett, has worked with multiple high performance athletes across a diverse range of sports and has participated in the numerous International tournaments as an applied sport scientist. Through his expertise and relationships Dr Foskett has facilitated multiple internship opportunities for his graduate students as applied sport scientists with a growing number of these students finding employment within high performance sport.
Dr Foskett has held various Governance roles within sport and exercise and is currently President of the Tertiary Council of Physical Activity and Sport Science (TCPASE); Special Advisor to the board of Sport and Exercise Science, New Zealand (SESNZ); Chair of the Massey University Blues Committee; and a member of NZ Football’s High Performance and Player Welfare Committee.
