Entry requirements

Admission to this programme is open to students who have completed one of the following:

  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Social Anthropology or close equivalent;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in Social Anthropology, followed by a Graduate Certificate in Arts endorsed in Social Anthropology;
  • A Bachelor of Arts degree followed by a Graduate Diploma of Arts in Social Anthropology.

Students must have achieved a B grade average over the 200 and 300-level courses in Social Anthropology.

Bachelor of Arts (Honours) (Social Anthropology) structure

You complete and pass courses to the value of 120 credits at 700-level, as shown below, with the research report usually taken as the final course. This qualification will be awarded with a class of Honours.

Note: not all courses are available in each semester.


All requirements must be completed within one year for full-time study or within three years for part-time study.


All courses are 30 credits each unless otherwise indicated.

146.703 The Practice of Anthropology

B) One of the courses listed below:
146.798 Research Report (60)
146.799 Research Report (30)

C) If you take 146.799 you will need to take another 30 credit 700-level course approved by the programme coordinator.
