Massey University’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) is unique in New Zealand – the only MBA with specialisations and that is available to study as a full-time or online option.
The Massey University Master of Business Administration (MBA) gives you the unique ability to choose when and where you study.
We offer options to gain a MBA by studying full-time for a year, or studying completely by distance (online study) over a longer period. This means this degree can be completed by those working in regional New Zealand or living outside of New Zealand.
The shorter time of the degree means that you will be able to go back to your career more quickly. This means you won’t be overlooked when there are opportunities to grow and you’ll move faster into a corporate career.
Another unique aspect to Massey University’s MBA is the ability to specialise. Depending on whether you choose to study online or on-campus, you may be able to choose between Business Sustainability, Digital Transformation or International Marketing specialisations. These focus on topics relevant to today’s business challenges. You will not only gain critical knowledge but it will give your qualification a clear differentiation from non-specialised MBAs.
We recommend that you choose a specialisation after you have started your study, to enable you to experience the different subjects and which interests you most.
You may also complete the qualification without a specialisation should you choose.
If you choose to study the MBA full-time, you will be able to complete the qualification in one year. This means you have a chance to get a major upgrade to your career with minimal absence from work.
This programme is an intense interaction MBA with scheduled sessions, mentors and full-support. Regardless of whether you are studying on-campus or online, learning is active, not passive.
The online option gives you the flexibility to manage your workload (one course at a time), and you’ll have access to scheduled interaction sessions, connecting you with MBA staff and lecturers - and your classmates.
We’re experts in distance learning with decades of experience and specialist academic support services to help you succeed.
An option for our online students is to choose some modules on-campus in Auckland. This is unique to the Massey MBA programme.
The Massey MBA focuses on giving you the skills to lead with integrity. You will develop your strategic thinking skills, problem analysis and solving, technology and cultural competencies.
Your learning will draw from the most recent research, but also from business practitioners who will be presenting, mentoring and creating real-world assignments. The full-time MBA offers a work experience opportunity in a New Zealand firm, or an overseas firm with a New Zealand presence.
The Massey Business School is one of the country’s leading and largest business schools and is AACSB accredited. We have the longest-running MBA programme in New Zealand.
Massey University’s business and management studies rank in the top 250 by QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) rankings. We are ranked No.1 in New Zealand and in the top 150 universities worldwide for our business administration, communication and finance programmes by ShanghaiRanking
You will learn from well-respected academics and business experts, gaining an international perspective.
Note that this MBA programme is at quite a different level to undergraduate study. Whichever MBA delivery you choose (online or full-time) it will involve full-immersion study and group learning both within the university and in the workplace.
