Exploring the Understanding of Psychosocial Hazards in State-Owned Enterprises in China
Psychosocial hazards in the workplace are growing significantly and have been identified as major challenges in the area of occupational health and safety in many countries around the world. Although Western countries have developed a comprehensive understanding of workplace psychosocial hazards, there is scant literature on conceptualizing an in-depth understanding of psychosocial hazards in a number of developing countries, particularly China. Therefore, the objective of this research is to explore the understanding of psychosocial hazards within a Chinese context by collecting relevant data from line managers' perspectives in state-owned enterprises. As the researcher holds a post-positivist philosophical paradigm, Strauss and Corbin's version of grounded theory, also known as post-positivist grounded theory, is considered most appropriate for the study. This research is intended to contribute to a better understanding of the concept of workplace psychosocial hazards as they relate to the area of occupational health and safety in the Chinese context.
I am from Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. I am a research assistant at the University of Auckland, AUT and Massey University. I chose Massey University for my PhD as the university has the professional research Healthy Work Group, focusing on psychosocial factors in workplace health and safety being my specialist area of study. After my PhD study, I hope I will continue to make contributions to healthy work as a scholar in academia.
