The Elsdon Best collection in the Taonga database contains online versions of some of Elsdon Best's publications. Elsdon Best (1856-1931) was an ethnologist with the Dominion Museum and compiled publications on Māori history and lore.
The Journal of the Polynesian Society
Contains much information about Māori. The Journal's early issues contain a repository of indigenous texts and traditions contributed by Pacific peoples, as well as by missionaries and other writers.
Māori Collections at Auckland City Libraries
This includes the collection of books & manuscripts, donated by Governor & Premier of New Zealand Sir George Grey (1812 – 1898), which have significant Māori content.
The Papers of Sir Donald McLean
This collection contains digitised copies of selected series from the papers of Donald McLean, some of which are in te reo Māori. Donald McLean (1820-1877) was a dominant figure in relations between Māori and the Government in mid-19th century New Zealand.
Marsden Online Archive
Missionary Reverend Samuel Marsden (1765-1838) had much contact with Māori in the early nineteenth century. The archive contains many of his letters and journals.

Contains research of the Royal Society of New Zealand (known as the New Zealand Institute before 1933), including research on topics such as Māori language, history, archaeology & ethnography.
Māori Land Court Minute Books
Contain the record of Māori Land Court hearings. The Māori Land Court Minute Books Index is an index of over 1100 minute books between 1865 and 1910, from the Taitokerau, Waikato-Maniapoto, Tairawhiti, Waiariki, Aotea, Takitimu, and Waipounamu Māori Land Court Districts.
