Eduroam Wireless Network Service

eduroam is a wireless network service made available to Massey students and staff visiting other institutions participating in the eduroam service, or visitors to Massey from these institutions. More detailed information on what eduroam is and how it works can be found at the eduroam website.

Connecting to the Eduroam Network visiting other institutions

Access to eduroam is made via the eduroam network. Instructions for connecting to eduroam are identical to the instructions for Massey’s other wireless networks.

  • The name of the network you want to connect to is ‘Eduroam’ or ‘eduroam’.
  • When asked for user credentials you will need to supply your Massey username (e.g or student ID (e.g. and your network password.

Other systems (Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android, mobile devices, etc.):

Ensure that the username field is populated with your (for staff) and (for students).

If your device asks for a EAP method (usually Android), use PEAP and MSCHAPv2 for authentication.

Security note: It is recommended that you treat remote eduroam networks as 'untrusted', and to make a VPN connection back to Massey's network when possible. It is also recommended that you connect to secure web sites (i.e. sites starting with HTTPS rather than HTTP). Note: This is not available for all web services/sites.
