Gaining international experience during your time at Massey University will strengthen your CV and benefit you throughout your career. Businesses and companies look for applicants with a global mindset to work with their culturally-diverse employees and overseas clients.
Studying overseas on exchange for a semester or two as part of your Massey degree can propel you along your path toward Global Citizenship. Other options, such as study tours, internships, and international conferences, provide valuable experiences as well. Global Citizen is a Massey University initiative to assist you with taking up these opportunities. Contact Craig Lyons to find out how you can become involved in the opportunities below or those listed on our Internships page.
The Prime Minister’s Scholarships are for undergraduate or postgraduate students who are New Zealand citizens or permanent residents wanting to undertake study or research in Asia or Latin America. Successful candidates will have their tuition costs paid for, and receive a significant contribution towards flights, accommodation, insurance and a living allowance. Past recipients have participated in Student Exchange, Study Abroad, internship and language programmes.
Te Hononga-ā-Kiwa tours aim to increase students' understanding of the North Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin American business and economic environments and the cultural differences in these regions, as well as building New Zealanders’ understanding and ability to engage successfully in these environments.
The programme has been redesigned in 2020 to offer an online platform that aims to increase Māori business engagement, capability and awareness internationally, in light of international travel restrictions. Indigenous and Cultural Tourism are the key focus areas for this programme. You will still experience an opportunity that incorporates educational, business and leaderships knowledge and expertise, within a unique international context, alongside like-minded peers under the shared values of whanaungatanga, manaakitanga, and aroha.
All tours are being run through the University of Waikato on behalf of the Centres of Asia-Pacific Excellence. Students from all eight New Zealand universities are encouraged to apply.articipate in the programme of their choice.
